Vertical in action

These are Pictures of my recent 2 meter "SLIM JIM" antenna.

The SLIM JIM is like a J-POLE that has a 1/2 wave element that folds back from

the top down.

This antenna boasts a gain to the horizon of 6db, and needs no ground radials.

from the reading I have done it needs to be kept at least 1/4 wavelength distance

from any metal, including a tower or mounting hardware. (best mounted IN or ON PVC pipe).

I will post more pictures when I get more data in on this antenna

I have given thought to making this 2 full wavelengths long (folded in half of course, with the matching section on the bottom) I.E. 4 X 1/2 wave sections long.

I believe if you stay with even mulitiples of half waves this will work. (Follow the links below to see how the project turned out)  In so doing I think it will have more gain on 2 meters.
